Your notes, quiz scores, streaks, settings, and your Google Gemini API key are stored only in your browser/app storage on your own device. NotRec has no backend, no database, and no user accounts. We cannot access any of it. Deleting the app (or clearing its site data) permanently removes everything.
NotRec asks for microphone access only when you choose to record a lecture, and only while you are recording. Recordings, uploaded audio files, and PDFs are processed to create your notes and are not kept by us anywhere.
When you create notes, the content you provide (recorded audio, an uploaded file, a YouTube link, or pasted text) is sent from your device directly to Google's Gemini API using your own API key. NotRec is not in that path — we never receive or see your content or your key. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's Gemini API terms and Google's Privacy Policy. Free-tier Gemini requests may be used by Google to improve its services — avoid submitting sensitive personal content.
No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no cookies for tracking, no selling or sharing of data — because we never have your data in the first place.
NotRec is a study tool suitable for students. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Everything is yours and on your device: you can export your notes as PDFs at any time (Settings → Save all notes), remove your API key (Settings), or erase everything by uninstalling the app or clearing its site data.
If this policy changes, the update will appear on this page with a new date. Questions: adityaarikeri0050@gmail.com.
